Abstract

This paper offers a novel way of approaching the role of the worshipping assembly within the framework of incessant human insecurity bedevilling Nigeria. The West African sub-region is experiencing a lot of unrest daily. The Nigerian situation seems to be most affected by this cankerworm. Admittedly, it has assumed a monumental growth like a tumour with the insidious and wanton destruction of life and property perpetuated by kidnappers, bandits, Boko Haram members, Fulani Herdsmen, etc. Despite these hopeless situations, the writer is optimistic that through liturgical education, peace and tranquility can be restored. After all, the worshipping community supports human dignity that is an inalienable right of every human being. The worshipping assembly, being a component of the subregion, has therefore to address various issues tucked in human security with a view to eradicating social, cultural, and political disparities, arising from such man-made degeneration. Beyond the worship of God, there is also a great deal of teaching. Accordingly, the worshipping community can offer a legitimate, consistent, conceptual, and doctrinal valuable ways of resolving some of the most pressing issues on human security. Consequently, using the expository, investigative, and analytic methods, the study makes some propositions as roadmaps to reorientate the populace within the sub-region.
